Tornadoes Touch Down In West-Central Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Some tornadoes have touched down in west-central Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says a storm chaser reported a brief tornado touchdown near Hawick in Kandiyohi County about 6 p.m. Thursday.

Another tornado touched down earlier near Norway Lake, also in Kandiyohi County. The sheriff's office reports no damage.

In southwestern Minnesota, the weather service says high winds damaged silos and barns.

Two silos were damaged and the doors were blown off a pole barn near Taunton in Lincoln County. A barn and silo also were blown down near Canby in Yellow Medicine County.

There also were reports of hail and heavy rain in parts of western and central Minnesota.
