Northern Minnesota Man Arrested In 1987 Killing Of Woman

VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP/WCCO) — A 44-year-old man was arraigned Thursday in connection with an 83-year-old woman's death in 1987 in northern Minnesota.

Bruce Wayne Cameron, of Virginia, Minnesota, has been charged with second-degree murder charge in Leona Mary Maslowski's death.

Cameron was 16 years old when Maslowski was found beaten and stabbed to death in her Virginia apartment. According to the criminal complaint, Cameron's fingerprints and palm print were found on a door near Maslowski's body.

The complaint says the suspect told investigators he was at a party above Maslowski's apartment. According to the complaint, he said he went into her apartment to steal alcohol, and that he assaulted her after she confronted him.

The case is the result of a cold case investigation by the Virginia Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Bail was set at $1 million.

Cameron is due back in court June 17. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
