Northeast MN Man, 50, Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says a 50-year-old man is dead after accidentally shooting himself.

On Sunday at 6:02 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the residence in Gnesen Township.

Daren Eugene Beede told emergency responders he dropped a firearm, causing it to discharge. He was struck in the lower abdomen by a .22 caliber bullet.

Beede died from the injury.

The incident is being investigated, but foul play is not suspected.

The victim's identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
