Northeast Minneapolis Ranked Best Art District In U.S.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- USA Today readers have chosen northeast Minneapolis as the best art district in the country.

The newspaper's "10Best" website cited the many annual events in the area centered around the Northrup King Building, including the spring Art-A-Whirl, the fall Fine Arts Show and November's Art Attack.

Coming in at number two is Boston's SoWa neighborhood (short for South of Washington) in the city's South End. Also on the list was the Station North Arts and Entertainment District in Baltimore, the Dallas Arts District, the Santa Fe Railyard District in New Mexico and even Detroit's Heidelberg Project at number four, which the list calls "part political protest and part outdoor art environment."

Several California neighborhoods made the list as well.
