No Injuries After Madeline Island Plane Crash

LA POINTE, Wis. (AP) — Three people escaped uninjured after a small plane crashed in northwestern Wisconsin.

WDIO-TV reports a 1974 Piper Cherokee attempted to land at Major Gilbert Field Airport on Madeline Island just after noon Saturday.

According to the La Pointe Police Department, the plane was approaching from the north and ended up just east of the runway, coming to rest in a wooded area.

The three people aboard were uninjured. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
