Nicollet Avenue Closed Near Loring Park After Police Pursuit

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A low-speed police pursuit has closed Nicollet Avenue early Thursday morning.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at 4:40 a.m. officers attempted to stop a car at 14th Street and Nicollet Avenue. Police believed the driver had narcotics and equipment violations.

The vehicle took off, leading police on a slow chase around the block.

The suspect ended up hitting the back of the officer's car.

Both the officer and the suspect in the car were taken to the hospital. Both suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Police said when the suspect is out of the hospital, they will be going to jail.

Nicollet Avenue was shut down from 13th Street to the 15th Street. It was unclear how long it would remain closed.
