Next Year, Mpls. Will Have Curbside Organic Recycling

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The city of Minneapolis is getting one step closer to creating a zero waste city. Starting next year, the city will have curbside pickup for recycling organics.

Sarah Sillers, who was in the pilot project, says she has been amazed at how much less garbage her family has now.

"We went from one to two bags of garbage a week to one bag every three weeks or so," she said.

The city says they have been picking up 2,000 pounds of waste each week just from the neighbors who are taking part in the pilot project.
