NEXT Weather: Cold and snow return Tuesday after warmest February day ever
MINNEAPOLIS — Monday was the warmest February day on record in the Twin Cities, but a winter reality check arrives Tuesday.
Monday's high reached 65 degrees in the Twin Cities, beating the record of 64 set in 1896. And Rochester's high of 68 also set a daily heat record.
Winter weather returns Tuesday, with highs in the metro peaking in the 40s before dropping as a big wind develops.
Some snow will fall with a passing cold front. Most locations will see under an inch, but there will be issues with the wind. Most of it will fall between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. There will be more snow well up north.
We chill big time on Wednesday. The high will dip into the low 20s with a subzero feel in the morning because of the wind.
It stays windy into the weekend, but the metro will warm to near 50 on Thursday, near 60 on Friday and into the 60s this weekend.
