NEXT Weather: Excessive heat warning will take effect Tuesday & Wednesday
MINNEAPOLIS -- Monday will be a typical summer day in the Twin Cities, but extreme heat will return Tuesday.
WCCO meteorologist Mike Augustyniak says there's a marginal chance for hail-producing severe thunderstorms in northern Wisconsin overnight.
Then, temperatures jump to the mid-90s on Tuesday, prompting our NEXT Weather Alert during the next couple days. An excessive heat warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday morning through Wednesday night, then a heat advisory will follow through Thursday evening, per the National Weather Service.
The humidity will also be a significant factor during the stretch, with dew points expected to reach 75 to 80 or higher.
Thursday will be slightly cooler, but highs will still be in the 90s as the Minnesota State Fair kicks off.
The weekend looks much cooler, with temperatures topping out in the lower 80s.
