NEXT Weather: Daily record high set Tuesday; Wednesday, Thursday likely to follow suit

MINNEAPOLIS — Tuesday's high temperature broke a 99-year-old daily heat record, kicking off a possible multi-day streak of record-breaking warmth.

The high in the Twin Cities reached 57 Tuesday, smashing the record of 51 set in 1925. Temps only topped out in the 40s up north.

The metro will hit the 50s on Wednesday and Thursday, possibly setting more records.

Rain returns later in the week, with showers likely on Thursday. Some snow may even fall during the cooler hours. After that, we'll enter another dry stretch.

Temperatures will dip back to the 30s over the weekend.
