NEXT Weather: Another round of snow moves through overnight, leaving behind slick roads

MINNEAPOLIS -- Overnight into Friday, temps will start to rise ahead of a system that will crank out a round of snow.

The snow was moving through western Minnesota around 6 p.m., but it'll likely clear the Twin Cities area before the morning commute. We could see another possible 1 to 2 inches of snow, and the roads could still be in tough shape.

After that, expect a cold weekend. Expect highs in the single digits with temperatures falling below zero for the first time this calendar year, and the first we've seen since around Christmas.

It could feel like 20 to 25 degrees below zero over the next few days, according to Meteorologist Chris Shaffer. That's why WCCO issued a NEXT Weather Alert for Saturday, the first day of the cold stretch.
