Newport Woman Pleads Guilty In Husband's Drug Overdose Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 44-year-old Newport woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges in connection with the death of her 32-year-old husband after a drug overdose in March of 2013.

Jennifer Marie Johnson had been charged in Washington County Court with third-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Dennis Parmuat on March 30, 2013.

According to the charges, Newport police were called to a home on a report of an unresponsive male. When officers arrived, they found Parmuat and he was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 3 a.m. that day.

Johnson told police that her husband "had consumed some beers," and she filled up a syringe and gave him 30-40 milligrams of methadone. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner ruled his cause of death as mixed drug toxicity.
