New Spam Museum Opens In Austin, Minn.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's exactly what Spam lovers have been waiting for. The new and improved Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota opened this weekend.

As you may know, just six simple ingredients make up the 15 varieties of Spam. The new museum showcases them all and even dishes up samples.

The new space includes a world market to show Spam recipes from other countries.

There are also interactive videos and games. You can even race your friends to see who can make their Spam product the quickest.

"We do have a mix of old and new attractions. So I think individuals who have been to the old Spam Museum will still be intrigued and excited by what the new museum offers," James Snee, president of Hormel Foods, said.

The museum is located in the heart of downtown Austin and it's free to visit.

There is a big community celebration in July for Hormel's 125th anniversary featuring The Band Perry.
