New Play Festival At Minneapolis Center In October

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis will host the 31st annual PlayLabs new play festival in October.

Audiences are invited to hear readings of new plays by the center's core writers. Actors read the scripts, and the staged readings also incorporate design elements of the plays.

The PlayLabs program gives playwrights 30 hours of workshop time with a team of collaborators and two public readings. The playwrights have time for rewrites in between the readings.

The Playwrights' Center says over 75 percent of the plays featured in PlayLabs over the past decade have gone on to production.

PlayLabs runs from Oct. 20-26. All events are free and open to the public.
