New Driving Class Emphasizes Smart Decision Making On The Road

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A different kind of driving program aims to teach student drivers more than what they learn in drivers' education.

The "Teens Drive Smart Driving Experience" teaches young drivers defensive techniques and reinforces smart decision making on the road. Each session combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving exercises, including skid recovery.

"We weren't taught how to control a car," lead instructor Brian Cole said. "I was taught how to stop at a stop sign, but what I didn't learn were lifesaving techniques."

The program's mission is to educate and help save the lives of young drivers. For information about the program and future classes head to the Teens Drive Smart website.
