New Concert Venue Planned For Mpls. Armory

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The owner of the Minneapolis Armory is planning to turn the historic building into a concert hall and event venue.

Currently, the building is used as an indoor parking facility. All the doors and windows are in need of replacement, as is the roof.

The website Finance & Commerce reports the plan to renovate the building into an event center has gotten preliminary approval from the National Park Service, and the owner expects to file a final plan soon.

The Park Service needs to be involved because the Armory, which was built in 1935, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Minneapolis Lakers also used to play in the facility.
