New Brighton Officials Give All Clear After Investigating 'Suspicious Object'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The New Brighton Department of Public Safety says everything is back to normal after a suspicious object was spotted at Driftwood Park Friday morning.

According to the NBDPS, an alert resident reported the suspicious object at the park, which is located at 5th Street NW and Silver Lake Road. The report prompted 5th Street NW between Silver Lake Road and Stinson Boulevard to close, as well as Driftwood Park.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m., the NBDPS said that officials recovered the object and there is no threat to the public. An NBDPS spokesman said whatever it was is very benign and non-explosive, but wouldn't elaborate on what exactly it was.

The spokesman said that anyone who sees a suspicious object should report it.
