Neighbor's Surveillance Footage May Help In Kidnapping Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A neighbor's surveillance camera may help Minneapolis police find a suspected kidnapper.

On Saturday, police say a stranger approached a 7-year-old girl on the 3100 block of James Avenue North and asked her to help him look for a lost puppy. The girl left with the man, but after hours of searching, the girl was found safe and sound.

A neighbor has since turned over surveillance footage to police. It shows a man walking in the area. A short while later, the footage shows the man signaling for a kid wearing a white winter jacket to come with him.

Police say stranger abductions are very rare.

The kids gave police a brief description of the man. They said he's white in his 30s with a spotty or pockmarked complexion. He was wearing a black jacket with horizontal stripes.

If you have any information, call Minneapolis police.
