NE Breweries, Distilleries To Be Featured At U.S. Bank Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Few things go together better than beer and football.

So, when choosing what beer would be featured at U.S. Bank Stadium, it makes sense it had to be some of the finest beer there is to offer.

And what is finer than Minnesota-made?

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, Minnesota Vikings, SMG and Aramark announced they will be partnering with the Northeast Brewers and Distillers Association as part of their beverage program.

"This collaboration with our local breweries reinforces our commitment to incorporating local tastes and flavors into the menu and giving homegrown brands an opportunity to showcase their products at the new, state-of-the-art facility," Michele Kelm-Helgen, Chair of the MSFA, said in a recent press release.

Select brews from a number of different NEBDA breweries will be featured, including Fair State Brewing Cooperative, NorthGate Brewing, Insight Brewery, Sociable Cider Works, Bauhaus Brew Labs and 56 Brewing.

The selection will rotate throughout the first few events; ensuring returning fans will always be able to find something new.

"Northeast Minneapolis has emerged as the epicenter of Minnesota's craft beer movement and we are incredibly excited to be able to showcase the variety and quality of beer produced by NEBDA member breweries," Evan Sallee, CEO Fair State Brewing Cooperative and member of the NEBDA Board of Directors, said in a recent press release.

All NEBDA beer will be sold from portable NEBDA-branded carts.

Craft beer from a number of other local breweries not affiliated with NEBDA will also be featured.

Fans will be able to enjoy beverages from 612 Brew, Surly Brewing Company, Lake Monster, Lift Bridge Brewing Company, Fulton and Finnegans as well.

Selections from MillerCoors, including beers from Jacob Leinenkugal Brewing Company and Blue Moon Brewing Company, will also be available throughout the stadium.

U.S. Bank Stadium is set to open in late-summer 2016. The first event will be held on Aug. 3 when Chelsea takes on AC Milan in the International Champions Cub.

The first Vikings game takes place Aug. 28.
