MSFA: No Bird-Safe Glass At Vikings Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The new Minnesota Vikings Stadium will not include bird-safe glass, despite months of impassioned pleas.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority made the final decision Friday.

Members have said for months they're against using a special glass, which they say could add as much as $80 million to the project.

Bird supporters say the stadium threatens migration patterns, and thousands of birds could crash into the glass.

The MSFA is still working with 3M Corporation to come up with a product to apply to the glass that could help prevent bird collisions.

Glass installation at the stadium could start as early as February.

The stadium is slated to be finished in July of 2016.
