Mpls. To Consider Banning Flavored Tobacco Products At Most Businesses
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The City of Minneapolis is considering doing more to keep minors away from tobacco.
City officials are discussing a ban that would outlaw flavored tobacco products at most businesses. Those products include things like flavored cigars, smokeless tobacco, shisha for hookahs and e-cigarette juice.
The ban would restrict sales from more than 300 allowed locations to just under two dozen specialty tobacco shops. Those shops require customers to be 18 years old to enter.
It would also set a minimum price on all cigars at $2.60.
If it goes through, this would be the first ban of its kind in the state. The City Council is expected to vote on the ban next month.
