Mpls. Restaurants Still Taking NYE Reservations

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you don't have a dinner reservation yet for New Year's Eve, you still have a chance to grab an open table.

WCCO's Lauren Casey stopped by Borough in Minneapolis' North Loop to get the New Year's Eve dining details.

If you procrastinated on firming up New Year's Eve plans, many Twin Cities restaurants still have availability.

However, you may have to adjust your schedule, or make a few calls, to find that special meal and glass of champagne to ring in 2015.

New Year's Eve – a time for reflection, a time for resolution, a time for revelry at your favorite dining establishment. But if you failed to get your name on that all-important reservation list, fear not.

"At Borough, we have reservations sort of earlier in the evening and later on in the evening, like five-ish and nine thirty-ish. But we also have our bar available and our kitchen countertop available, so there's still plenty of time," Kim Tong, of Borough, said.

Thus, adjusting your usual dining time to the early bird or night owl slot will get you a seat at the table. As will going a less formal route.

"We also have a more casual setting down on our lower-level cocktail bar, Parlour, where you can enjoy a burger and have some Champagne and bring in the New Year that way," Tong said.

Tong says that cancellations can be key in getting your name on the list last minute.

"Cancellations do happen all the time, especially on special occasions such as this and Valentine's Day. So, there are always chances. And there's so many fantastic restaurants around the city so you should definitely keep calling and trying," Tong said.

So, with a bit of effort and some flexibility, a New Year's Eve dinner out can still be had. And really, for a last night of care-free caloric consumption before your commitment to cut the carbs, does time really matter?

"Do you think dinner is just as delicious at 5 p.m. as it is at 7 p.m.?" Casey asked.

"Oh, I would say so. For sure. Then you'll get to the party on time," Tong said.

And it may be worth your while as many restaurants do delicious and New Year's Eve special menus.

For example, Borough's end of 2014 menu includes a lobster ravioli dish and a venison dish.
