Mpls. Police: Woman Sexually Assaulted Near Bus Stop

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis Police Department has issued a crime alert after a sexual assault near the area of Chicago and Franklin avenues Saturday afternoon.

Police say at 5:40 p.m. on the day of the incident, a victim was walking toward a bus stop when a man came up from behind her, told her he had a weapon and told her to keep walking. She was then assaulted nearby.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot African American man with a heavy build, about 45 years old with a black mustache and beard. He was wearing a black stocking cap and a dark hoodie.

Police are now actively investigating the crime.
