Mpls. North Beats Goodhue To Win Class A Title

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis North secured its first state boys basketball title since 2003 with a 68-45 victory over Goodhue in the Class A championship game on Saturday at Target Center in Minneapolis.

It is the Polars' sixth state title.

North (29-5) jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the game's first 5:42, highlighted by an alley-oop from nearly half court as guard Pat Dembley connected with fellow senior Tyler Johnson.

Goodhue (24-10) fought back with a 24-10 run to end the first half with a 26-25 lead, but the Polars responded with 19-4 run of their own to begin the second half.

North guard Isaac Johnson finished with 18 points, and Dembley finished with 14 points. Goodhue's Ben Opsahl had 12 points, while Jacob Pasch and Jacob McNamara each had nine.
