MPD, Henn. Co. Deputies Increase Downtown Mpls. Patrols

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- With summer events kicking off downtown, Minneapolis law enforcement is increasing patrols.

This is the 12th summer that the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is working with Minneapolis Police to create a "Safe Zone."

Private security employees and members of MAD DADS will also be helping out.

"Visibility means livability," said Police Chief Janeé Harteau. "We know that having that visible presence is key to not only preventing crime, but in helping people to feel safe."

Patrols working downtown are all in communication with one another, and are able to reach each other if they need help in a situation.
