More Than 5K Attend MOA's Walk To End Hunger, Over $325K Raised

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A record number of people attended the 8th annual Walk To End Hunger at Mall of America this Thanksgiving.

On Thursday morning, more than 5,000 walkers helped raise money for 15 area hunger relief organizations. Among them was Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Event organizers are still tabulating numbers, but said preliminary estimates are that walkers raised more than $325,000.

In honor of their efforts, Mall of America made it snow on top of walkers in its rotunda.

Since the event began in 2008, it has raised over $2 million to help those in need. Donations are still being accepted for the 2015 walk.
