More Than 100 Somali Students Gather Outside St. Cloud Tech H.S.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – More than 100 Somalian students and adults gathered outside St. Cloud Technical High School Wednesday afternoon in protest of recent administration decisions, according to the St. Cloud Times.

According to the Times' report, the group was protesting the school's handling of conflicts between Somali and non-Somali students.

The Times reported that the most recent incident involved a social media post on Snapchat that depicted one Somali Tech student and used a caption stating she was involved with ISIS.

A parent of a Somali student at the high school told the St. Cloud Times that the students organized the protest through social media.

St. Cloud Technical High School was put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, according to the school administration.

According to an alert issued by the high school, the school was placed in containment. Administration is at the school and students were within their classrooms.
