Moorhead Police Arrest Man In Sex Trafficking Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Moorhead police say they have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a sex trafficking investigation.

According to police, a sex trafficking investigation led Moorhead detectives to an adult female victim Tuesday. A suspect was then identified, located and arrested in south Moorhead at around 8:30 p.m. the same day.

The suspect is identified as 32-year-old Willie Bernard Navy of Fargo, North Dakota.

Moorhead Police Lt. Brad Penas says they are taking a proactive approach when it comes to cracking down on the illegal activity.

"A lot of times these guys threaten the women, they coerce them, they get them addicted to drugs and that's what's happening in a lot of these situations," Penas said.

Penas says Navy is facing charges of second-degree sex trafficking.

"Unfortunately what we know is that these guys get around, they travel and many times they have more than one victim," Penas said.

Navy is being held in the Clay County jail.
