Molitor Finishes 3rd In AL Manager Of The Year Voting

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins rookie manager Paul Molitor has taken third in voting for the American League Manager of the Year award.

Results were revealed Tuesday by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Molitor finished behind AL Manager of the Year Jeff Banister of Texas and A.J. Hinch of Houston, who finished second. Molitor was earlier named AL Manager of the Year by the Sporting News, based on a vote by his fellow major league managers.

Previous Twins managers to win the BBWAA award were Ron Gardenhire in 2010 and Tom Kelly in 1991. Sam Mele also won multiple manager awards in 1965, before the BBWAA added that category.

Twins designated hitter Miguel Sano was also a 2015 BBWAA award finalist, finishing third in voting for American League Rookie of the Year.
