MNsure Board Told System Has Enough Horsepower

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A consultant has told directors of Minnesota's health insurance exchange that the troubled system has enough horsepower as the fall open enrollment period approaches.

Brian Keane of Deloitte Consulting told the MNsure board on Wednesday that they've identified 30 priority functions that must work properly come Nov. 15. He says they're in the process of determining which of those functions must be automated and which ones can be manual systems.

Keane delivered an upbeat assessment amid growing Republican calls as the election approaches to kill MNsure and switch the state to the federal exchange.

He says there's much work to be done, and the work plan that Deloitte is developing will run thousands of lines. He says he doesn't want to paint too rosy a picture, but that he's encouraged.
