MnDOT Gears Up For Pothole Season
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Pothole season in Minnesota usually starts at the end of February, and that time has come.
But as our winter has been mild, this year may not be as bad.
MnDOT hopes our mild winter continues, because the less snow and ice, the more attention they can give to potholes.
Last year was brutal, with MnDOT spending more than $135 million on snow removal.
That's about $50 million more than average.
Minneapolis alone needed $1 million in emergency funding to fill every pothole, and the work took into the summer.
This year, we're in much better shape, and the first day of spring is now less than a month away.
