MnDOT Closes Northbound Lane On I-35W In Burnsville

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The right lane of northbound Interstate 35 West between Cliff Road and Black Dog Road in Burnsville, Minn. will close at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

With all the rain we've had lately the Minnesota River is rising, and workers with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will put up barriers along the east side of the I-35W, near Black Dog Road, to keep the water out.

"It will re-direct flood waters from the road and the businesses in that area," spokesman Kevin Gutknecht said.

According to Gutknecht, the flood waters have damaged several roads so far this spring.

"Highway 13 near I-35 E, I-35 W, the washout by the University of Minnesota and in southern Minnesota on highway 169, we've got problems," he said.

Repair will take some time and will be expensive.

Gutknecht reminded motorists to slow down when approaching construction areas, and never drive through standing water.
