Fatal Crash After Transport Van Strikes Stalled Car On I-494

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a fatal crash on Interstate 494 Friday morning.

According to the state patrol, the incident occurred on eastbound I-494 near Highway 77.

There, the patrol says a Ford transport van struck a Subaru Forester in rear while stalled in center lane.

The Subaru driver, identified as 63-year-old William Omalley of Minneapolis, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the van, a 57-year-old Burnsville man, was injured and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor and both were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said.
