Missing St. Cloud Man Dead After Night In Subzero Cold

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in St. Cloud say 60-year-old man was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after he went missing overnight amid subzero cold.

A hotel employee found James Elijah Wyatt shortly before 8 a.m. near a fence along Highway 15, St. Cloud police say.

He was found face up, wearing the clothes he was last seen in Tuesday night, when he went missing from a home on 10th Avenue North.

Emergency crews performed life-saving efforts on Wyatt, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Foul play is not suspected in Wyatt's death, police say. A single trail of footprints in the snow led to his body.

The 60-year-old had spent the night in the frigid cold wearing a leather jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

Police say that Wyatt suffered from several medical issues, including dementia.

His death remains under investigation.
