Missing Elk River Man Found Safe

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A missing man from Elk River was found safe Friday morning.

Glenn Hoppe, 51, was camping near Crookneck Lake with a friend when he went missing early Monday morning.

Just before 10 a.m. Friday morning, Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said Hoppe was located by a motorist and is in good physical condition.

An investigation determined that Hoppe left the campsite on foot in the early morning hours, was disoriented and after several miles of walking he wandered off into the woods south of Crookneck Lake. He then set up camp in the woods and stayed put until he was located.

Hoppe has been reunited with his family and the details of his disappearance are being investigated.

Hoppe is at St. Gabriel's Hospital for evaluation.
