Missing 7-Year-Old Wis. Girl Shows Up For School

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A large-scale search for a missing 7-year-old Sheboygan girl ended when the child showed up for school.

Dozens of volunteers had gathered Tuesday morning to continue a search for Lilleona Rose Badtke. The girl never made it home after school Monday, prompting police and volunteers to search well into the night.

The Sheboygan Area School District issued a statement Tuesday that said the girl arrived safely at school Tuesday morning and was never in harm's way. Authorities say there was a miscommunication about where the girl was going after school. The district says the incident serves as a reminder for parents to talk to their children about the need for clear communication on their plans.
