Minnesotans Wrap Up Busiest Shopping Weekend Of The Year

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you were out and about Sunday, shopping was a wet experience. Sunday night wraps up the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

While analysts say Super Saturday draws even bigger numbers than Black Friday, Sunday also drew in big crowds.

At the Creative Kidstuff in Linden Hills, time is precious. Store employee Katie Brenke said at this point, "people mean business."

Kendra Turba was one of them.

"I'm out last minute and the one thing I wanted is out everywhere and I'm not playing twice the price on Amazon," Turba said.

And over at the Great Harvest bread company http://www.greatharvestmn.com/minneapolis/minneapolis.html the heat was on, too. Steve Arnold is the owner.

"It's a very busy time for bread and sweets and cookies and muffins and lots of things," Arnold said.

A few miles away, a surprisingly busy spot was a Boy Scout Christmas Tree lot where trees were marked half price.

Jim Keesens helps sell the trees.

"With the weather, we thought it'd be a little slower but we're doing pretty well," Kleesens said.

Brenke says Creative Kidstuff's business on Sunday was just shy of Super Saturday's.

Even though there are just a few days left to shop, there are many hours. Toys 'R' Us has extended hours all week, closing at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Kohl's is open around the clock until Christmas Eve.

It's predicted that holiday shopping sales will increase by 4 percent this year.
