Minnesotans Firefighters Join Crews Fighting Western Wildfires

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Fire crews from Minnesota are now being deployed to help battle the wildfires out west where more than 80 different fires are stretching resources to the limit.

Nearly 29,000 firefighters are on the front lines but it's not enough to handle the wildfires burning in eight Western states.

Northland's News Center reports a group of firefighters will be leaving Grand Rapids to battle blazes in Montana.

There are nearly 300 Minnesotans currently fighting wildfires in the west.

The Pentagon has also ordered 200 troops to help in the battle.
