Minnesota Wild Pay Tribute To J.P. Parise

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - The Minnesota Wild celebrated the life of J.P. Parise before Thursday's game.

Fans watched a video tribute of the former North Star--the father of Wild left wing Zach Parise.

Some teared up, others cheered when moments with family and highlights of his career were shown.

Parise died last night of lung cancer at age 73.

A moment of silence was observed before the game started.

At Thursday morning's skate around, the Wild players took time to pay tribute to a teammate's father.

Parise played 14 NHL seasons, making a name for himself with the Minnesota North Stars, and stayed in Minnesota after he retired.

When his son Zach signed with the team, it was a dream come true.

Players wore a special No. 11 decal on the back of their helmets tonight in honor of Parise.
