Storm with snow and rain to move through Minnesota on Tuesday
A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect for a storm that's expected to bring rain and snow through Minnesota on Tuesday.
A winter storm warning will be in effect for parts of central and northwestern Minnesota on Tuesday, while the metro and areas to the north will be under a winter weather advisory.
The storm is expected to hit the Twin Cities area around noon and will last until early Wednesday morning. Northern parts of the state will see between 4 and 8 inches of snow and the metro will likely see a mix of snow and rain.
Wind gusts will pick up late Tuesday into Wednesday, which is expected to be cold.
This weekend will also be cold, with below-zero temperatures possible.
Snow on Monday morning left a coating, and the second round was expected to drop on the northeastern portion of the metro during the evening hours.
