Minnesota Viking Elf 'Wild Bill' Hosts Charity Food Drive

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It looks like the Minnesota Vikings have a new mascot this holiday season.

"Wild Bill" is the Minnesota Viking Elf. Bill won a costume contest at a Christmas party and then decided to wear it to a Vikings game last week. He gained a lot of attention from the media and is now starting a food drive to help families in need.

Bill says he wants to keep the tradition of giving alive, even after Christmas. On Sunday before the Vikings hosted the Giants at TCF Bank Stadium, they were out in the tailgate lots to gather food.

"I have to keep up with the people I tailgate with because they have their days and I have my days. Today is about the food shelf, that's what it's about," he said.

"Wild Bill" says the food shelf is going to be an annual event. The first 25 donations from Sunday's drive received a Wild Bill Viking Elf can koozie.
