Timberwolves F Taj Gibson Arrested In NY Traffic Incident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to introduce free agents Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson on Monday, but it's not without some controversy.

The Timberwolves confirmed Saturday that Gibson was arrested recently in Queens, New York. He reportedly made an illegal U-turn, was stopped by police and an a check of his driver's license showed it was suspended. He was arrested at the scene.

It comes just days after Gibson agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Timberwolves to come back and play for his old coach, Tom Thibodeau.

Gibson was eventually released and has a court date set for September.

The Timberwolves released a statement on Saturday about the incident.

"The Minnesota Timberwolves are aware of the recent incident in Queens involving Taj Gibson. The team is confident that the matter has been resolved and we will have no further comment on the issue," the statement reads.

Gibson is entering his ninth NBA season.
