Minnesota State Returns To NCAA Semifinals

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota State has reached the NCAA Division II football semifinals for the second time in three years.

The Mavericks beat Northern Sun conference rival Minnesota Duluth 44-17 on Saturday to improve to 13-0 this season, behind 277 yards and three touchdowns passing by Ricky Lloyd. They later learned they will stay at home next week at Blakeslee Stadium and host Concord University of West Virginia in the fourth round. West Georgia and Colorado State-Pueblo will meet in the other semifinal.

Minnesota State lost to Valdosta State at home in the semifinals in 2012. The Mavericks have never made it to the national championship game.
