Minnesota Sen. Klobuchar To Speak To Nebraska Democrats

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Democratic Party will host U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota at its annual Morrison Exon Dinner.

Klobuchar will be the keynote speaker at the dinner on Aug. 1 in La Vista. She is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in Minnesota's history.

Nebraska Democratic Party Chairman Vince Powers says Klobuchar has captured the spotlight within the party and nationally as a strong leader on education and economic issues. Klobuchar was elected to the Senate in 2006.

The dinner will take place at the Embassy Suites Omaha-La Vista Hotel and Conference Center.

Last year's speaker was former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, who is now seeking the party's presidential nomination.
