A growing list of Minnesota schools has decided to close or open late on Wednesday after a winter storm rolled through the state.

Snow started in the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon and continued through the night into Wednesday morning. Areas to the north and west saw higher snow totals, while communities to the south saw a wintry mix.

According to the National Weather Service, 3.4 inches of snow fell at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Tuesday. NWS estimates about 4 inches fell in St. Cloud, while Chanhassen saw about 2.8.

Temperatures will drop into the 20s on Wednesday, and will continue to drop as the week rolls on, with single-digit highs and subzero wind chills this weekend.
