Minnesota Salvation Army Ready To Respond To Hurricane Matthew

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesotans are ready to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

About 50 volunteers with the Salvation Army have been trained in emergency response, and will head east when they get the call. Jeffrey DeMars is a spokesperson for the Savlation Army.

"Once all the damage assessment is made, once everybody realizes what it's going to take to get people to recover from what's happened, then we'll get the call, and then we'll step in and we'll help out," he said.

DeMars says while much of the help is physical in nature, there will also be volunteers in the area to emotionally help victims who suffered in the storm.
