Minnesota Man Gets 35 Years In Iowa Prison

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 62-year-old Minnesota man has been sentenced to 35 years in an Iowa prison for kidnapping and beating a woman.

Albert Mesenbrink III, of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, was sentenced on Monday in Cerro Gordo County District Court. He'd pleaded guilty last month to reduced charges.

Authorities say that on April 20, Mesenbrink lured the woman to a Clear Lake motel room by pretending over the phone to be someone she knew. He beat her and choked her with a rope during the 30-minute attack after she arrived.

On Monday in court Mesenbrink apologized for his actions.
