Minnesota Man Gets 27 Years For Raping Woman

ANOKA, Minn. (AP) — An Anoka County judge has sentenced a 36-year-old man to 27 years in prison for abducting and raping a woman in Fridley after telling her he was a police officer.

Gideon Charles Arrington II of Brooklyn Center was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree criminal sexual assault in May. Judge Dyanna Street says aggravating factors such as the particular cruelty of the attack justified a sentence that exceeded state guidelines.

Arrington abducted the 32-year-old woman near Fridley City Hall in November after telling her he was a detective. He then handcuffed and blindfolded her and raped her repeatedly. The woman tells authorities he washed her body and clothes before freeing her.

Prosecutors say they recovered his DNA from the woman's body during a physical exam.
