Minnesota Man Dies In Iowa Jail, No Foul Play Suspected

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say no crime is suspected in the death of a northern Iowa jail inmate.

The Minnesota man was found unresponsive in the male dorm of the Cerro Gordo County Jail on Saturday and could not be revived. No signs of trauma were found during an autopsy on Monday. The cause of death won't be determined until complete laboratory test results are available.

The Iowa Public Safety Department identified the man as 54-year-old Edward Hochstatter, of Bloomington, Minnesota. He'd been arrested by Clear Lake police on Thursday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
