Minnesota Man Charged In Strangling Death

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) -- A West St. Paul man is being held on $1.5 million bond in the strangling death of his girlfriend.

Marc Bakambia was charged Monday with second-degree intentional murder in Dakota County court in the August death of 24-year-old Dorothy Redd.

The 28-year-old was charged with domestic abuse and interfering with a 911 call four days before her death. Redd told her mother she "feared for her life" when he assaulted her. He was released on $500 bond.

A friend tells police Redd asked for money to help Bakambia post the bond. The friend says she believes Redd picked him up from jail Aug. 8.

The woman's mother found her dead on her bed Aug. 10.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
